Shaolin Deadly Kicks (1977)

Also called The Flash Legs, The Ultimate Eight Feet. I have this film as part of a Treeline Film 50 Movie Pack Kung Fu.  Double sided DVD’s with two movies on each side.  No Subtitles, English Dubbed only, no options other than selecting scenes.

The movie takes place during the Republic of China period if the clothing is anything to go by. A gang called the Eight Dragons steal an 8 Trigram map to a treasure trove, the boss of the gang wanted no murders but many in the group kill anyways.  He divides the map into eight pieces (how convenient) and each member gets one piece and are to meet in three years after the heat cools down then dig up the treasure.  Hung Yi is a Police Inspector who has been investigating the Eight Dragons for three years.  He hunts down each member to arrest them and return the map to its owners.

Overall this isn’t a bad film, however it isn’t great either.  Each of the eight fight scenes between Hung Yi and a Dragon member is so drawn out you tend to get really tired of the action scenes. The one exception was the fight scene with hang Fang, Eight Dragons member #3.  Even when the ultimate villain, Cutter (played by Lo Lieh of course), steals all eight pieces of the map Hung yi is still able to confront him at the treasure site.  How did he find it without the map? Oh well, it wasn’t really important.  Minus those two bits Shaolin Deadly Kicks is a pretty good film and Lo Lieh does what Lo Lieh does best and that is play a villain!
