Wuxia Cinema really isn’t a review page as much as it is a way to introduce people to the amazing genre of Wuxia.  What is Wuxia?

  • a genre of Chinese fiction or cinema featuring itinerant warriors of ancient China, often depicted as capable of superhuman feats of martial arts.
  • literally means “martial hero”, is a genre of Chinese fiction concerning the adventures of martial artists in ancient China. Although wuxia is traditionally a form of literature, its popularity has caused it to spread to diverse art forms such as Chinese opera, manhua, films, television series and video games. It forms part of popular culture in many Chinese-speaking communities around the world.

Thankfully many films and a few of the TV shows have been translated into English and other languages.  However I’m not just going to introduce Chinese films and show but also those from Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, amongst others.

I’m not that great of a writer and my grammar is atrocious so bare with me as I continue to learn how to properly introduce these titles to you, the reader.

  1. Just found your page today and greatly appreciate it. I’ve been a long-time fan but have been starved for good and current sources of information on these films. Your site is most welcome!
