Martial Arts of Shaolin (1986)
Martial Arts of Shaolin (a.k.a. Shaolin Temple 3: Martial Arts of Shaolin) is the only film which had the collaboration between Jet Li and Lau Kar-leung. The plot is simple, the sound track is abysmal, and the props are okay but the acting and action are very good! I certainly enjoyed this film and seeing a young Jet Li perform martial arts is certainly a treat! Jet Li and his co-star Wong Chau-yin were married from 1987–1990 and have two daughters.
Despite the simple “revenge” plot it is enjoyable with lots of action and some comedy. It is certainly worth watching and if you can’t find it on DVD it is available on USA and UK Netflix and Hulu. If your a fan of Jet Li than you will enjoy it.
Jet Li (Hero, Once Upon a Time in China, Fong Sai Yuk) plays Zhi Ming
Wong Chau-yin (Kids from Shaolin, The Top Lady of Sword) is Si Ma Yan a young lady sworn to avenger her parents
Hu Jianqiang (The Shaolin Temple, Kids from Shaolin) is Chao Wei a secular student at Southern Shaolin who has a crush on Si Ma Yan
Yu Chenghui (A Battle of Wits, The Return of the Condor Heroes 2006, Sword Stained with Royal Blood ) is the evil Lord He Suo. It is played in a very sterotypical Shaw Brothers villain. Complete with maniacal laughter.
Yu Hai (The Tai-Chi Master, Kids from Shaolin) – Master Shi Ren
