Geisha Assassin (2008)

Set during the Edo Period, Geisha Assassin (a.k.a. Geisha vs. Ninjas) is a Japanese Chanbara film.  Like many of the “Ninja” films of that genre it is a low budget film but a highly polished one.  The plot feels like a combination of a video game and a back story from Rurouni Kenshin character Sagara Sanosuke. So the plot was thin but director Go Ohara managed to still make it engaging enough for me to finish the film. Probably because the same mentality keeps me playing video games with the same concepts. When I say video game the entire story is just one new adversary to fight after another which each one being a little more powerful until Kotomi Yamabe reaches the top boss Katagiri Hyo-e.
