The Guillotines (2012)

G1

Li Yuchun as Musen

The Guillotines is a retelling of the classic movie weapon ‘The Flying Guillotine’. Directed by Andrew Lau (Storm Riders, A Man Called Hero, The Duel) gives us his rendition of the fearsome Assassins of the Emperor.  The film is okay as long as you employ suspension of disbelief on how this CGI updated gear/nano tech like weapon works.  It flies through the air as if it was using ‘Fly By Wire’ interface. If you can get passed that then it is enjoyable enough.  The costumes and locations are impressive and they certainly had a good production budget, however I feel this would have been much more amazing if the script had been more fluid and the acting just a little better.  However as an action film it is entertaining.
